The latest production from Desiderata Theatre Company; the North American premiere of Howard Barker's Lot and His God. Set in a grimy cafe just hours before the annihilation of Sodom, an Angel compels Lot and his Wife to flee the city. What follows is a dangerous dance of seduction, cruelty and desire between the agent of God, the idolator scholar, and the woman he worships.
This production is Desiderata's sophomore effort, following last summer's challenging Hedda Gabler. It marks the triumphant return to the stage of Toronto's own Prince Amponsah, after a two year hiatus. Additionally it features Stefne Mercedes (Sailor's Song, Sterling Studio Theatre), Tayves Fiddis (Othello, Ale House Theatre) and Andrew Pimento (Of Shapes Transformed by Love, Aim For the Tangent Theatre), as well as an original sound design by Toronto pop artist Tallan Md. Directed by Harrison Thomas (Hedda Gabler, Desiderata Theatre Co), this production promises to be an exciting premiere, from the writer whom Sarah Kane once called "the Shakespeare of the 20th century."
Running from June 12 to 28th at Citizenry Cafe (982 Queen West) from 8pm to 9:15, dark Mondays and Tuesdays.
