Ale House Theatre Company will be performing its sold out Fringe production of Shakespeare’s Twelfe Night, Or what you will one last time at St. Vladimir Theatre on Thursday, July 16. A unique pay structure called “Pay What You Decide,” recently employed by the ARC theatre of Stockton-on-Tees, England, will be in effect. Patrons will have free entrance to the venue and performance. After enjoying the show they are free to leave as little or as much money as they decide. Ale House is calling it the “Ale House Last Call: Free to enter; Leave what you will!” evening.
The Stockton ARC has been successful pay model for the first six months of 2015. “It’s the perfect storm to test this fascinating pay model less than a week after success was reported in Stockton,” says Ale House Director, Joshua Stodart. “I’m very interested in how this structure will affect the performances of the actors and their relationship to the audience.”
Ale House first performed Twelfe Night, Or what you will in the spring of 2013. The play was then performed as an “epic 90 minute cut” for this year’s Fringe where it enjoyed sold out houses and praise from audience and critics alike. The company employs Original Practices as a starting point to find fresh and invigorating interpretations of Shakespeare’s plays.
Ale House joined the Fringe with the aim of defying expectations and renewing excitement for Shakespeare in Toronto. Don't miss this last chance to see Twelfe Night, Or what you will.
