Theatre Hera is a Toronto based theatre collective comprised of artists from all across the country. The group was established with the purpose of providing young innovators of all artistic backgrounds with an uncompromising outlet to launch their original work. Primarily focusing on (but not limited to) fresh emerging artists, their main objective is to foster the alliance of artistic expression of multiple creative mediums, such as performance and visual arts, while emphasizing the importance of collective collaboration and equal opportunity.
Since it's formation in 2013, Theatre Hera has produced three original scripts: "The Flight of Avery Quint", "Sweetheart", award winning "Sophie and the Stranger", as well as an art exhibition entitled "Disease of Perception". The current project being developed by Theatre Hera is a double bill of two original scripts introducing new Canadian playwrights to the Toronto Arts scene. The “Sweet n’ Salty Double Bill" features “Grapefruit” - written by Alastair Mackay - a farcical tale revolving around the Vale’s; a monotonous married couple whose respected reputation is threatened by their scandalous approach to tea-time, and “Salty Bachelors” - written by Dylan Brenton - a story of two aging Newfoundland men who finally admit their life long romantic feelings for one another. Both pieces deliver a charming evening of theatre while also visiting important issues such as acceptance, love and sexual identity.
Theatre Hera's “Sweet n’ Salty Double Bill" will take place at the Alumnae Studio Theatre located at 70 Berkeley Street, July 22nd-26th 2015 beginning promptly at 8PM with a matinee on the 26th at 2PM. During pre-show, patrons can enjoy tasty citrus infused beverages and High Tea with the cast at Sunday's Matinee. Tickets are $15 General Admission, or $10 for Students and can be purchased through their website at www.theatre-hera.com or https://eventbrite.ca/event/17400533464/.
