The James Hillier Foundation and the Sanderson Centre, Brantford are pleased to present ‘An Evening with Chris Hadfield.’
Hadfield, a retired Canadian astronaut, flew two space shuttle missions, served as commander of the International Space Station, and was the first Canadian to walk in space.
‘An Evening with Chris Hadfield’ will take place Thursday September 10, 2015 7:00 PM at Brantford’s Sanderson Centre. Following his presentation, Hadfield will be available to sign books. Earlier in the day, Hadfield will visit with students at James Hillier Public School, Brantford.
‘An Evening with Chris Hadfield’ is part of the celebration of Dr. Hillier’s 100th birthday. Hillier is one of Canada’s greatest scientists and inventors. Born and raised in Brantford, Hillier is recognized throughout North America as a co-inventor of the electronic microscope. He was inducted in the National Inventors Hall of Fame, Akron Ohio, the Canadian Science & Engineering Hall of Fame, Ottawa Ontario and was presented the Order of Canada.
The James Hillier Foundation presents university scholarships to students from Brant County continuing their studies in science. To date, 51 students have been awarded complete 4-year scholarships at a value of $850,000.00. In June another 4 students will be selected.

The James Hillier Foundation is making arrangements with local organizations to purchase up to 350 tickets so that secondary school students can attend the event at no charge.
