It's 1918 and William Avey’s Sideshow is facing financial ruin. With only one chance to save the sideshow and one chance to save themselves, these rare beauties have nothing to lose! The Bearded Ladies, The Bitter Burlesque Queen and The Tap Dancing Conjoined Twins all give it their best shot in one, final, provocative performance.
The Avey Sideshow is based on original text by Philip Dimitri Galas. His untimely death in 1986 left behind an inspiring body of work. Remaining true to Galas’ deliciously dark, “avantVaudville,” style, creator and director, Chelsea Ferrando, transforms Galas’ text into a naughty musical spectacle, full of excitement, fun and Fosse. Composer and Musical Director Josh Priess adds original songs and mashups of old favourites.
The Box Toronto provides the perfect backdrop for this gritty, one of a kind show. The small theatre space is located in a coffin factory built in 1887, complete with rickety staircase and eerie alleyway.
