TIFT’s Illuminating Conversations announces Series Three
Live, one-on-one interviews of exceptional and engaging individuals
On November 7th, 2016, David Phillips, Senior Climatologist with Environment Canada, and Canada’s most quoted and quotable weather expert, will charm us with his stories about a topic that affects us all. Author of The Day Niagara Falls Ran Dry and creator of The Canadian Weather Trivia Calendar, Phillips combines data with colourful storytelling, making him the most frequently interviewed bureaucrat in the country.
On December 5th, 2016, Dr. Bob Henderson, avid explorer of heritage trade canoe routes, professor of outdoor education at McMaster, paddler, and author of Every Trail has a Story: Heritage Travel in Canada and Nature First will bring the tales and trails of Canadian history to life and will describe the Scandinavian relationship with nature and approach to outdoor life.
On January 9, 2017, Ian Brown, author and journalist, (The Globe and Mail, Maclean’s, The Financial Post, TVO and CBC host) will share his candid perspectives on life’s challenges as covered in his books The Boy in the Moon and Sixty: The Beginning of the End or The End of the Beginning? and Man Overboard: True Adventures of North American Men.
On March 6th, 2017, Jennifer Podemski, award-winning film and television actor, producer, director, will reveal how her complex and cross-cultural background brings insightful nuance to her work in films such as Empire of Dirt, Dance me Outside and in television shows such as Degrassi: The Next Generation and The Republic of Doyle.
On May 29th, 2017, Alanna Mitchell, scientific journalist, co-author of Franklin’s Lost Ship: The Discovery of the HMS Erebus, author of Malignant Metaphor: Confronting Cancer Myths, Sea Sick: The Hidden Crisis in the Global Ocean, and named the world’s best environmental journalist in 2000, Mitchell will intrigue us as she explains complex subjects in an engaging and understandable manner.
