This fall, renowned Canadian cabaret artist Sharron Matthews takes three of her wildly acclaimed cabarets to nine cities, including New York City, as well as cities across Canada, from October 28 to December 19, 2016.Tickets are now on sale at all venues on the tour schedule.
It was six years ago that Matthews made her two-night NYC debut at Joe’s Pub. On October 28, she returns to New York City with her brand new show, Sharron Matthews Naked, at Feinstein’s/ 54 Below. Spinning the music of AC/DC, Amy Winehouse, Chaka Kahn, Beyoncé, Annie Lennox, Cheap Trick, P!NK, Coldplay, U2, Serena Ryder, the Beatles and more into her acclaimed, singular musical arrangements, Sharron takes you straight to the bone with her spellbinding stories of want, of need, of love, of fear and, as always, of hysterical joy. In NAKED, Sharron strips down musically and emotionally, pulling the audience into this intimate performance in a way that is both moving and breathtaking. After New York City, she takes her Naked show to Toronto’s Buddies in Bad Times Theatre for three nights, from November 15 – 17 and Shadbolt Centre for the Arts in Burnaby, BC on November 25 and 26.
On November 12, Matthews performs her Sharron Matthews SUPERSTAR cabaret at Gayety Theatre, in Collingwood, ON. With a little something for everyone, SUPERSTAR features 50 revolving musical pieces from a variety of pop songs from different decades, in addition to her side splitting comic banter.
With the Christmas season just around the corner, audiences will definitely get into their Christmas spirit at Sharron’s Christmas Party. A true holiday crowd pleaser and one of Matthews favourite shows. This irreverent HIT musical comedy has toured across Canada, from coast to coast. Combining her powerful voice with her signature comedic wit, Matthews created holiday-themed pop medleys, sing-a-longs and song-a-logues that will have audiences roaring with laughter and crooning along.
Sharron’s Christmas Party follows on the heels of her SOLD OUT tour of the east coast with Canadian icon Mary Walsh and is coming to the following cities this fall:
• Tuesday, November 29 – Imperial Theatre, Saint John, NB
• Wednesday, November 30 – Fredericton Playhouse, Fredericton, NB
• Friday, December 2 – Th’YARC Playhouse and Arts Centre, Yarmouth, NS
• Friday, December 9 – Meadowvale Theatre, Mississauga, ON
• On December 19, at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, Sharon is joined by her husband George for their annual Superfun Christmas Singalong.
Since 2005, Sharron Matthews has been performing SOLD OUT cabarets across the world, thrilling audiences, of all ages, with her songs, stories, songologues, mash ups and medleys. She creates original and thrilling shows that deliver jaw-dropping vocals, pop culture punches and hit melody mash ups in a one-of-a-kind concert experience that defies age and gender barriers. She performs solid gold music by artists, including: Lady Gaga, Kiss, Styx, the Bee Gees, Guns ‘N’ Roses, Radiohead, Beyoncé, Queen and so many others in an evening audiences will not soon forget.
As an actress, Sharron is known as “Joan the secretary” in the hilarious comedy Mean Girls. She’s been described as “the most exciting thing to have happened in cabaret since Bette Midler at the Continental Baths.” She’s also performed in a number of musicals, including: Hal Prince’s Showboat, Les Miserables, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Beauty and the Beast, The Wizard of Oz (Dora Award nomination), and Love Loss and What I Wore (alongside Andrea Martin. In 2016, Sharron hosted, co-wrote and consulted on two TV pilots for Canada’s Slice TV, called MEME gURL, and she also starred for two seasons on Global TV’s hit reality show, Canada Sings, which was nominated for the prestigious Realscreen Award.
