Looking for something with more edge than the traditional holiday fare? Look no further than Ronnie Burkett’s The Daisy Theatre at Great Canadian Theatre Company from November 29 – December 18. Armed with over forty marionette characters, this is Ronnie Burkett unleashed, unscripted, and ready to deliver variety acts, impromptu monologues and engage in audience participation. This isn’t your average holiday programming.
“The Daisy Theatre is one of the best shows you’ll ever see.” – The Georgia Straight, Vancouver
“Funny, touching, and pure genius.” – Edmonton Sun
Witty, biting and clever, The Daisy Theatre features Burkett's famous marionettes in an improvised cabaret inspired by bold characters and current events. The only certainty: this one-of-a-kind theatrical experience is for adults only.
“There are very few people in the world who can successfully deliver long form improvisation. Ronnie not only delivers, but he does it while literally pulling the strings of forty different characters. He is one of our greatest performing artists” says Eric Coates, GCTC’s Artistic Director.
Since its premiere at the Luminato Festival in 2013, The Daisy Theatre has played to thousands of audiences and parodied theatrical genres from opera, music hall, Las Vegas, French cabaret and vaudeville. With the ever-changing content and nightly improv, The Daisy Theatre is truly a “see it more than once” theatrical experience.
“A thoroughly enjoyable, hyperkinetic evening of humor, song, and drama.”– The Village Voice
