Civic Theatres Toronto was formed in 2015, consolidating the operation of Toronto’s three civic theatres into a single organization with a mandate to provide quality performance and event facilities and to promote its contribution to the artistic, cultural, and social vitality of Toronto and its communities. The theatre complexes that comprise Civic Theatres Toronto are the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts, the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts, and Toronto Centre for the Arts.
“I am honoured to have been given the opportunity to lead Civic Theatres Toronto and to work alongside the existing accomplished team,” said Mr. Wagner. “I look forward, with their help, to animating its many performance spaces in a way that showcases Canada’s talented artists, and engages and reflects the citizens of the City of Toronto.”

Anthony Sargent, CEO of Luminato, said: “Clyde Wagner has enriched the cultural life of this city in so many ways, and for almost the whole life of Luminato has been the wizard who each year has converted seemingly impossible visions into brilliantly successful productions, most recently the admired 10th anniversary transformation of the vast Hearn Generating Station into a cultural centre. As Clyde moves on from Luminato it’s so good that all his skills and experience won’t be lost to Toronto, and his Luminato colleagues and friends all look forward to working with him in this enormously exciting new role.”
