Toronto, ON, December 21, 2016 – Cineplex Events brings Verdi’s magnificent production, Nabucco, to The Met: Live in HD to Cineplex theatres via the New York City’s Metropolitan Opera on January 7th, 2017. Featuring one of the 20th century’s most distinguished and influential operatic performers, Plácido Domingo stars in the title role as baritone under the baton of his longtime collaborator, James Levine. According to Domingo’s official biography, as of this year – he has participated in over 3,800 performances of 147 roles (as both tenor and baritone); he has also conducted well over 500 performances, and has made hundreds of audio and video recordings and films.
The production also features impressive performances from Liudmyla Monastyrska as Abigaille, the warrior woman determined to rule empires; Jamie Barton as the heroic Fenena, and Dmitri Belosselskiy who gallantly steps into the role of Zaccaria, the Israelites’ high priest.
Nabucco will be in Italian with English subtitles. It will be playing live at Cineplex and select theatres across Canada on January 7, 2017 at 12:55 p.m. ET with encore shows on February 11, 13 and 15, 2017. For theatre locations and showtimes, visit Cineplex.com.
