Mirvish Theatres to Dim Marquee Lights on December 28, 2016 at 8 PM
David Mirvish was saddened today to learn of the death of Carrie Fisher.
Ms. Fisher performed her acclaimed show WISHFUL DRINKING, based on her best-selling memoir of the same name, from July 12 to August 21, 2011 at Toronto's Royal Alexandra Theatre.
Audiences loved the show and cherished seeing Ms. Fisher on stage in a hilarious and very moving performance. Her insights into the entertainment business and celebrity culture were witty, outrageously intelligent and on the mark.
David Mirvish remembers her as “very generous in sharing her emotions and personal story. I think she gave hope to others who lived in challenging circumstances. She was kind, thoughtful and brave.”
In the great tradition of the theatre community, and to honour and remember Ms. Fisher, tomorrow evening at 8 all the Mirvish theatres — the Royal Alexandra, the Princess of Wales, the Ed Mirvish and the Panasonic — will dim their marquee lights.
