Toronto, ON – Starvox Entertainment today announced that Torontonians will be reliving the ‘50s this spring with Forever Plaid, the Dora Award-winning, off-Broadway musical. Back on the Toronto stage for the first time in 20 years, the hit show will be performed for audiences at David Mirvish's Panasonic Theatre (651 Yonge St.) from Tuesday, May 17 through Sunday, June 12.
Tickets go on sale Friday, Feb. 19 at 10 a.m. at mirvish.com
Written by Stuart Ross, the acclaimed musical sold 900,000 tickets during its first Toronto engagement. The production ran for four years, from 1993 to 1996, at the former New Yorker Theatre (now the Panasonic Theatre) and in its inaugural year received three Dora Mavor Moore Awards including: Outstanding Musical Production, Outstanding Stage Design and Outstanding Performance for all four original cast members.
“We are thrilled to be bringing Forever Plaid back to Toronto audiences after 20 years. It’s a beautiful story, and the frequent laugh-out-loud moments and timeless music are sure to delight audiences both young and old,” said Starvox Entertainment president, Corey Ross.
Forever Plaid takes place in the 1950s and tells the story of Frankie, Jinx, Sparky and Smudge, also known as ‘the Plaids’, a quartet of male singers who take a detour to heaven on the way to their first big concert. Fantastically funny and timelessly tuneful, the close harmonies and charming choreography take audiences on a journey through the classic pop hits of the ‘50s, such as ‘Moments to Remember,’ ‘Heart and Soul’ and ‘Love is a Many Splendored Thing.’ Forever Plaid is family-friendly and suggested for audiences aged eight and up.
Tickets for Forever Plaid range from $39.95 to $99.95 and go on sale Friday, Feb. 19 at 10 a.m. and can be purchased through mirvish.com or by phone at 1-800-461-3333.
