TORONTO, ON (April 28, 2016) – The circus returns to Harbourfront Centre this spring with HarbourKIDS: Circus, May 21–23, 2016. This three-day spectacle will take over the site with all things circus-arts related, all weekend long. HarbourKIDS: Circus events are appropriate for all ages.
This year’s festival collaborates with a number of local artists to present a range of circus performers, including magicians and acrobats. Families will also have the opportunity to participate in art making, transform into circus animals, or relax and watch a film or performance.
“This year we are ecstatic to present a re-envisioned circus festival that combines art and contemporary circus,” says Allison Cummings, Artistic Associate of HarbourKIDS. “This year we want to ensure that the arts are at the forefront of the festival, providing our youngest art lovers with a magical place to participate and celebrate ideas, and where art collides with circus.”
HarbourKIDS: Circus Highlights:
•The Animal Show
•A modern day take on the traditional circus animal show, featuring dancers transformed into animals, as well as some surprising interactive stations throughout the day.
•Sea and Sky Circus Stage
•Three shows each day that feature an extraordinary display of contemporary circus works. Curated by Femmes du Feu’s Holly Treddenick.
•Side Show Carousel
•The Stage in the Round features a range of extraordinary works that explore the magical effect of clown and theatre combined in five different shows each day. Curated by with Adam Lazarus.
