May 16, 2016… The Stratford Festival is thrilled to announce that it is adding even more performances of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, extending its season by a week in October. The season’s Schulich Children’s Play had its first preview on May 9 – a full house, like the rest of the performances in May and June.
“The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is proving hugely popular with schools,” says Executive Director Anita Gaffney. “Many students get their first taste of theatre here at the Stratford Festival and you couldn’t ask for a better introduction to theatre than this production. It is extremely rewarding to see young people so enthralled by a classic work.”
“This play’s magic captivates children and adults alike,” says Artistic Director Antoni Cimolino. “In the gifted hands of director Tim Carroll, working with a mind-blowing cast and creative team, it has become a family masterpiece.”
C.S. Lewis’s timeless classic The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, dramatized by Adrian Mitchell, follows the fantastic adventures of four children sent from their home in wartime London to live at a professor’s house in the British countryside. Inspired by wonder, the siblings travel through a wardrobe to the land of Narnia to fulfill their destiny.
Tickets are still available for performances in July through October, including the following newly added performances:
• Tuesday, October 25, at 2 p.m.
• Wednesday, October 26, at 2 p.m.
• Thursday, October 27, at 2 p.m.
• Saturday, October 29, at 2 p.m.
