May 9th The Storefront Theatre’s inaugural Playwright’s Unit is set to debut six new works after a year long writing and development phase with The Storefront’s resident dramaturg Emma Mackenzie Hillier. Running May 30th June 4th, each night will showcase one of six new plays penned by our 2015/16 season Playwrights’ Unit. Inspired by genre, each evening will explore a different style of writing, performance and design.
HORROR Monday May 30st: Maggie Sulc’s Raggedy’s Kingdom. Directed by Molison Farmer, featuring: Chloe Sullivan, Kat Letwin, Caroline Sawyer and Kevin Chew.
SUPERHEROS Tuesday May 31nd: Fraser Elsdon’s Superhero’s . Directed by Carys Lewis, featuring: Jonathan Koensgen, Dwayne Murphy, Kate Ross, Claire Armstrong and Gabriel Hamilton.
WESTERN Wednesday June 1st Natalie Frijia’s Divine. Directed by Benjamin Blais, featuring: Amanda Cordner, Vanessa Salazar, Mickey Rodriguez, Jeff Yung, Andy Trithardt, Zac Savage and Grace Phan.
SCIFI Thursday June 2nd Daniel Pagett’s Pipeline. Directed by Daniel Pagett, featuring: Kyle Shields, Alex Plouffe, Sean Sullivan, Khadijah RobertsAbdullah, Jonas Widdifield and Michael Musi.
CIRCUS Friday June 3rd Amelia Sargisson’s Ring of Fire. Directed by Tanja Jacobs, featuring: Sochi Fried and Grace Phan.
MUSICAL Saturday June 4th Rob Kempson’s The 7th Annual Family Jambouree. Directed by Briana Brown, featuring: Jacob Vanderham, Greg Gale, Capucine Onn, Christo Graham and Jason O'Brien.
The final evening of the Playwright’s Festival will also mark the announcement of The Storefront’s 2016/2017 season, followed by INDIE PROM: an evening celebrating Toronto’s theatrical indie glitterati.
