Students from Opera Atelier’s School of Atelier Ballet present Dance Through Time, a FREE special performance. In the historic St. Lawrence Hall, students in period costume perform historical dances choreographed by Opera Atelier Founding Co-Artistic Director Jeannette Lajeunesse Zingg, featuring entertaining and educational commentary from Opera Atelier Founding Co-Artistic Director Marshall Pynkoski.
Performances will take place in the Great Hall on the third floor of St. Lawrence Hall, 157 King Street East (at Jarvis St.), an authentically reproduced room featuring a huge gas-lit chandelier, an elaborate ornamental plaster ceiling, red plush furnishings and fine paintings. Built in 1850 to be Toronto’s public meeting space, the Hall was the centre of Toronto’s cultural and social life for decades. After years of neglect, it was restored in 1967 as a centennial project and is now home to the administrative offices and dance school of Opera Atelier.
