Throw off your glad-rags, kick down those heels, and get ready to embrace the darkness in this double header of two brand-spankin' new solo dark comedies: Not Enough, and Everybody Dies in December.
Nancy Kenny (On the Fringe, Roller Derby), and Megan Phillips (People Suck – 2015 Patron’s Pick, Ed Mirvish Entrepreneurial Award, Best of Fringe) have teamed up to create a one-night only Toronto preview of their 2016 Fringe shows. They’re taking their shows across Canada … and taking their audiences to places many would rather avoid.
Not them.
ABOUT THE SHOWS:
Not Enough:
In an effort to finally grow the F up, Megan embarks on a last-ditch, 10-day silent meditation... when she came face-to-face with demons she didn't even know existed. Suddenly, she finds herself fighting for her life against anxiety... and lives. A true story of change, forgiveness, and becoming enough. Dramaturgy/Directed by TJ Dawe (Medicine, Post Secret), Fringe veteran for nearly 20 years. Various credits include The Slipnot, The Power of Ignorance, Lucky 9, Burn Job, 52 Pick-Up and Dishpig. He did a TEDx talk. He co-wrote the play Toothpaste and Cigars, which has been made into move The F Word, starring Daniel Radcliffe.
Everybody Dies in December:
From Nancy Kenny, Fringe veteran and creator/performer of Roller Derby Saved My Soul (Canadian Comedy Award nominee – Best One Person Show), comes a dark comedy about living with death. Literally. The story follows Claire, a funeral director trying to plan the best damn service of her life, perhaps for the very last time. With a mixture of heartwarming honesty and snappy observations, this dark comedy lifts the veil on an industry we all have to deal with at some point or another. Whether we want or not.
