The Village Playhouse will hold auditions for "Les Belles-Soeurs" June 15-18.
AUDITIONS will be held at the Village Playhouse, 2190 Bloor St. West (around the corner from Runnymede subway station) at the following times:
· Wednesday, June 15, 2016 / 7 - 10 pm
· Thursday, June 16, 2016 / 7 - 10 pm
· Saturday June 18, 2016 / 11am - 5pm
· CALL BACKS: Monday June 20, 2016 / from 7pm
NOTE: Rehearsals & Performances are at 2190 Bloor St. West.
First read: Tuesday, July 5 / 7-10pm. Rehearsals will begin shortly after: Tuesdays and Thursdays 7-10 pm, and Sundays 1-5 pm (rehearsal dates are flexible depending on actor availability) AND every night of tech week beginning Sunday, September 4.
The play in a nutshell: Germaine Lauzon wins one million Green Stamps and invites friends and family to help paste them into books – and simmering resentments shake up all fifteen women. It’s been translated into 20 languages and may be Canada’s most-produced play.

Performance Dates: September 9 to October 1, 2016
CHARACTERS (ages refer to characters, not actors – and are approximate):
1. Germaine Lauzon - housewife, 40's, second oldest of four sisters. Has a sense of superiority due to her winning 1 million trading stamps.
2. Linda Lauzon - Daughter of Germaine, 20's, works in retail. Has an impulsive personality. Constantly at odds with her mother.
3. Rose Ouimet - Third oldest sister, 35-45, the comedian of the family. She dares to say what others won't. Her secret: quietly enduring the repeated sexual assaults of her brutish husband.
4. Gabrielle Jodin - Oldest sister, 48-55. She is subdued, reserved and self-effacing.
5. Lisette de Courval - 40's, a neighbour. Thinks herself more sophisticated and morally above her more vulgar neighbours. She is awkward in her condescension.
6. Marie-Ange Brouillette - late 20's. Jealous, angry, hard done by, over looked, ignored. First to arrive and first to steal from Germaine.
7. Yvette Longpré- 40's - 50's, a neighbour. The very personification of happiness and contentment, thus making her seem completely invisible.
8. Des-Neiges Verrette - 30's - 40's, a neighbour. Still single, but longs for Mr.Simard.
9. Thérèse Dubuc - mid 30's, a neighbour who cares for her invalid mother in-law. Sometimes in a troubling way.
10. Olivine Dubuc - 90's, invalid, wheelchair bound mother in-law of Thérèse. She is bitter. Very few lines.
11. Ginette Ménard - 17-20, friend of Lise & Linda. Little nosey. Hard home life. Desperately wants to be liked by her friends, who perpetually reject her.
12. Lise Paquette - 19-22, friend of Linda and Ginette. Naive, desperate, just discovered that she is pregnant
13. Rhéauna Bibeau - 55-65, aging bachelorette. Lives with Angeline. She is the more dominating of the two.
14. Angéline Sauvé - 55-65, aging bachelorette, who lives with Rheauna. Docile, but reveals a tightly held secret.
15. Pierrette Guérin - 32 (but can look older), has lived a hard life. The youngest sister. Black sheep of the family. Ostracized by her family and abandoned by her man Johnny.
PREPARATION: Please prepare a short (2-3 minute) monologue (comedy or drama) if the Director is not familiar with your work. Please also be familiar with the play as you will be asked to do cold readings from the script.
A hardcopy of the script will be available at the desk of the 5th floor of The Toronto Reference Library. A script is available upon request.
