Canada’s most produced playwright will spend an evening sharing stories and wisdom in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Playhouse Theatre Group is welcoming Norm Foster to town on Wednesday, July 27, for an evening discussion that will support programs of non-profit Playhouse Theatre Group. Foster will share his personal stories, answer questions and conduct a meet and greet with those attending.
Rob Burke of Playhouse Theatre Group says they recently took in a production of On A First Name Basis at the Foster Festival in St. Catharines, where Foster was on stage performing in his own show. It was an inspiring show, said Burke.
“Norm Foster was brilliant on stage. Not only is he an incredible playwright, Norm Foster is also wonderful to watch on stage,” Burke said.
Even more wonderful, said Burke, was the opportunity to speak to Foster after the show. He said it was a great opportunity to chat with the celebrated playwright and helped pave the way for the July 27 event.
“You can tell he is going to have interesting and funny things to talk about, especially since he has a new play premiering at the Norm Foster Festival at the (FirstOntario) Performing Arts Centre,” said Burke, noting play goers in the region who may not be familiar with Foster have likely seen his work, as his plays have been produced on stage in Niagara for some time.
Foster has staged nearly 60 different plays over his decades-long career. His plays receive an average of 150 productions annually making him, by far, the most produced playwright in the history of his country. For more information on him and his work, visit www.normfoster.com.
Tickets for the evening with Foster are $20 each, with proceeds supporting Playhouse Theatre Group. The non-profit organization, which is under the umbrella of Something-Something Productions, is focused on offering educational programs, classes and events for both children and adults in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
The event takes place in Corks’ Playhouse Theatre, 19 Queen St. (upstairs) in Niagara-on-the-Lake, with doors opening at 7 p.m. Seating is limited and tickets are only available in advance. They can be purchased online at http://normfoster.eventbrite.ca or call 289-668-0482.
