PARIS TWICE, a personal travel memoir built around two trips to Paris, has just been released by the authors, Guillermo Silva-Marin and Henry Ingram. Marilyn Huziak of Huziak Graphic Design Studio, is the designer and graphic artist for the 126-page book and it was printed by WeMakeBooks, a division of Heidy Lawrance Associates. The ISBN number is 978-0-9950698-0-0 and the work is registered in the Library and Archives Canada.
The work began as a simple travel dairy covering his and partner Henry Ingram’s trips to Paris in 2009 and 2011. Over time, Silva-Marin developed it into a travel memoir that makes observations on a variety of subjects pertinent to the vagaries of travel including memory research by Daniel Schacter, musical criticism, art appreciation, environmental concerns, familial relationships, and the notion of travel itself.
Silva-Marin is the Puerto Rican born General Director of VOICEBOX; Opera in Concert and the Founder and continuing General Director of both Toronto Operetta Theatre and Summer Opera Lyric Theatre. His most recent entrepreneurial initiative is the creation of Ponce Lirico, a company dedicated to providing performance opportunities to emerging artists in Puerto Rico.
Originally from the United States, Henry Ingram is the Managing Director of Dean Artists Management, a firm representing classically-trained singers, conductors and stage directors worldwide. As a vocal adjudicator he has been called upon by the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, the Montreal Symphony Manulife Competition, the National Association of Teachers of Singing and the Royal Conservatory of Music’s Glenn Gould School.
The book is available at the Offices of Toronto Operetta Theatre and VOICEBOX: Opera in Concert at 947 Queen Street East, 2nd floor, Toronto, ON M4M 1J9 – Tel. (416) 922-2912, Amazon, EBay and PayPal. The book retails for $30, a portion to benefit TOT and OIC.
