Ross Petty Productions proudly presents the all-star Canadian cast of SLEEPING BEAUTY – The Deliriously Dreamy Family Musical, the 21st annual fractured fairytale at the Elgin Theatre, running November 25, 2016 – January 7, 2017.
As previously announced, Hilary Farr of HGTV’s Love it or List It will star as the unfairest of fairies, dead set on renovating and re-designing the Kingdom of Torontonia in her own grim image.
AJ Bridel (Kinky Boots) is Sleeping Beauty, the Princess Rose. Being blessed with beauty, light and harmony is not enough for Rose and her squad goals. She wants to help the less fortunate creatures of the kingdom by opening an ogre orphanage or a unicorn sanctuary. James Daly (Master Harold and the Boys, Uncle Vanya/Shaw Festival) is Luke the lutist, Rose’s shy music instructor who is part troll, but doesn’t think he has a chance with her Highness.
Paul Constable, most recognized today as Canadian Tire’s TV spokesman, and a Second City alumnus, is SparkleBum, a good fairy in training who comes from a long line of Bums including PeachBum, the dreaded pirate BlueBum, and of course the legendary PlumBum. Eddie Glen, returning for his 14th Panto, is Evil Garden Gnome EGG—although he prefers Exceptionally Great Guy—and reluctant assistant to his malevolent mistress of the swamp.
Two stars of Family Channel’s The Next Step; Taveeta Szymanowicz, (now starring in Nickelodeon & YTV’s Make it Pop), and Alexandra Beaton, currently appearing in her 5th season on the TV show; are Rose’s BFF guardian angels, who know they can dance!
The King and Queen of Torontonia, who only dream of their daughter’s happiness, will be played by Laurie Murdoch (Once) and Dora Award-winner Lisa Horner (Grey Gardens).
