"Life is like a book. It begins with a birth and ends with a death, but it’s all the things in the middle that you savour."
James Novel is taking a sabbatical to write the "Great Canadian Novel", which means he's working at home, surrounded by his extended family. Mary Novel is searching up the wrong alleys for self-fulfillment. Their daughter, Rebecca, can’t make a career choice to save her life. Meanwhile, Grandpa Geoffrey is reminiscing about war-time horrors and talking to ghosts. The ghosts seem to be responding.
Written by Jayson McDonald (Giant Invisible Robot, Boat Load, Underbelly, Magic Unicorn Island), one of the strongest new voices in Canadian theatre.
"This multi-generational comic drama set in Ontario in the 1970s, deals with difficult issues with humour and warmth." - Red Deer Advocate
"Novel House has great sweetness, wacky humour, lyricism and gentle poignancy” - Scene Magazine.
