Stage Door News
From February 14th to March 25th, Canadian Stage and Théâtre français de Toronto join forces to coproduce Five Faces for Evelyn Frost, an innovative theatrical experience that examines how social media transforms human relationships while challenging the notions of authenticity and truth. While these days the 'fake news' scandal dominates the press, the work of Guillaume Corbeil resonates even more in this current global climate. Claude Poissant helms this new production, a cutting-edge Québécois play that enthralled its Montreal audience before seducing Europe. Adapted for Toronto audiences and translated by Steven McCarthy, this production is presented for the first time in Toronto in English from February 14th to March 5th and in French as Cinq visages pour Évelyne Frost from March 21st to March 25th (surtitled in English), at the Berkeley Street Theatre.
SYNOPSIS: Meticulously crafting their lives around their social networks, five friends vie to increase their online status and worth, always pushing each other toward the extreme, carelessly flirting with indecency and the irreparable. Featuring a clever use of projections, the show stars five young bilingual actors: Laurence Dauphinais, Steffi DiDomenicantonio, Tara Nicodemo, Nico Racicot and Alex Weiner. The set is designed by Max Otto Fauteux; costumes by Philippe Massé; lighting by Martin Labrecque; visual projections by Janicke Morrissette and Jean-François Brière; and the musical composition by Nicolas Basque.
Five Faces for Evelyn Frost & Cinq visages pour Évelyne Frost are presented as part of Canadian Stage’s Winter/Spring Saison du Québec series, showcasing groundbreaking stage creations from the province of Quebec; including: Cirque Éloize’s Cirkopolis, Robert Lepage’s 887 and Marie Chouinard’s Hieronymus Bosch: The Garden of Earthly Delights.
