PLAY SUMMARY
Radiant Vermin, Philip Ridley’s first comedy, follows the lives of a couple of young newly‐weds (Jill and Ollie) who are desperate to leave their tiny flat on a run‐down council estate and move into a house of their very own. The imminent arrival of their first child fuels this desire even further, especially for Jill. However, house prices are climbing at an alarming rate and so it would appear that Jill and Ollie’s quest for their “dream home” will remain a pipedream. One day, they receive a letter from a mysterious lady called Miss Dee who tells them that they have been selected to receive a free house as part of a new government scheme.
The only catch is that they must do all of the renovations themselves.
Radiant Vermin is a comic satire in response to the current housing crisis, homelessness and consumerism.
