Richard Rose, Artistic Director of Tarragon Theatre is thrilled to announce the creation of a new position unique in Canadian theatre: a fully-salaried, two-year term as Playwright-in- Residence. The new position is generously supported by George Youssef, a long-time supporter of Tarragon.
In addition to writing plays for production at Tarragon Theatre, the selected Playwright-in-Residence will contribute to the theatre community by leading workshops and courses aimed at youth and professional playwrights, participating in audience outreach and education activities, and providing mentorship to the members of Tarragon’s Playwrights Unit.
Thanks to the generous support of George Youssef, the selected Playwright will enjoy an annual salary, providing time to focus solely on creating for theatre. The position is open to actively-practicing, established professional playwrights, recognized as such by peers and by a demonstrated history of published presentation or publication. Tarragon Theatre encourages applications from artists of diverse cultures, artists with disabilities, artists located in regions across Canada, new generation artists, and artists working in non-traditional forms of theatre.
Interested candidates should visit www.tarragontheatre.com after January 30, 2017 for additional information on eligibility and how to apply. Please note that all application packages must be received by February 15, 2017.
