The Big City Improv Festival (BCIF) is happy to announce more programming for the sixth annual festival. Big City Improv Festival, Canada's largest improv showcase, will present the best improvisers from across North America from October 13 - 21, 2017 at four venues in Toronto.
The 6th Annual Big City Improv Festival will feature over 100 improv troupes from across North America. Recently added troupes include: The Sufferettes with Becky Johnson and Kayla Lorette; Laurelly with Lauren Pritchard (MadTV) and Kelly Vrooman (The Chica Show); Tallboyz II Men, Producers' Pick at TOsketchfest 2017; CHUCHO, an all-Hispanic/Latinx improv team; 2 Man No Show with Ken Hall (People of Earth) and Isaac Kessler; Big Bang Improv, the best improvisers from Boston; Monkey Toast featuring David Shore and Lisa Merchant; The Studio System, a long running house team at the PIT in NYC; and Taste That!, Prince Edward County's artisanal comedy troupe.
"This year we have something for everyone. The lineup is a reflection of the people of Toronto. From the neurotic and anxious energy of K&M, to the LGBTQ+ Kinsey Fail, to Halal Rainbow, to the kinky Bedpost Sex Show, to Tallboyz II Men - each troupe represents something different. We're proud to offer so many voices this year, of course with the common thread of....it's all made up!" said Erin Conway, Executive Producer of BCIF.
The schedule for BCIF, including the Festival Freebies series, panel discussions with industry leaders, community builders, teachers, and performers, is now online: bigcityimprovfestival.com/schedule/index.html.
The Big City Improv Festival, created by artistic director Adrianne Gagnon in 2011, is Canada's largest gathering of improvisers with marquee headliners, local showcases, public workshops and industry panels. Alumni includes Scott Adsit, Phil LaMarr, Colin Mochrie, Maribeth Monroe, Lauren Ash, National Theatre of the World, and more.
