Cineplex Events today announced the fall line-up for its popular Event Cinema Stage Series with a range of acclaimed performances captured live from some of the world’s best theatre companies. In addition to performances from The National Theatre and the Stratford Festival, Cineplex is bringing the magic of Broadway shows from the stage to the big screen with offerings from Broadway HD. The fall season begins October 19, 2017 and runs through to the end of the year on 67 screens in Cineplex theatres in communities large and small across Canada.
The 2017 fall season includes Kevin Kline’s Tony Award winning turn as Garry Essendine in Present Laughter, captured live on Broadway this past summer. Noël Coward’s outrageously irresistible backstage comedy was also nominated for ‘Best Revival of a Play’ at this year’s Tony Awards, and stars Emmy and Tony Award nominee Kate Burton (Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy), Tony Award nominee Kristine Nielson (Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike), and Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother) in her Broadway debut.
“I am delighted with the fall season of our Stage Series and am thrilled to see the brilliant Kevin Kline back on Broadway,” said Brad LaDouceur, Vice President, Event Cinema, Cineplex. “Our goal with this series is to extend the reach of these acclaimed productions and make them accessible to Canadians. If you cannot go to London or New York, you can enjoy these brilliant performances on the big screen at your local theatre.”
