Nightwood Theatre is accepting submissions for our 9th annual Lawyer Show, where 35 members of the legal community take the stage as actors, supported by a team of professional directors, designers and vocal coaches – while raising funds for Nightwood, one of Canada’s most vital and vibrant theatre companies.
Performance opportunities are available for principal, secondary, chorus and cameo roles! No previous acting experience is required – all are welcome! Limited opportunities exist to join our talented all lawyer band to accompany the musical live on stage!
Please follow the audition instructions in the audition package.
Download the Audition Package HERE.
Download the Audition Form as a WORD FILE or as a PDF FILE. Save and rename the file with your Name.
What Does the Audition Involve?
It’s easy! You will need to prepare a short scene from The Drowsy Chaperone (PDF links below), as well as sing part of a song (your choice of any song, NOT necessarily from the show). Keep the singing portion under a minute and note that you will be singing a cappella (without music accompaniment). Our Music Director will be present and can accompany those that wish to sing with piano (please bring along your sheet music).
Please choose one scene to prepare for your audition. Your scene selection does not have to reflect the role(s) you are hoping for. Once you have downloaded your scene, you MUST email Naz at naz@nightwoodtheatre.net to receive your audition time-slot, and send in your audition form, and a recent image of yourself! Though you do NOT have to memorize the scene for the audition, we recommend you review and familiarize yourself with the text. Someone will read the other characters for your audition. Your audition will take approximately 10 minutes from start to finish.
