Last week saw two world premieres, a sell-out and many near sell-outs for undercurrents.
Don't miss this week's two new openers Faster than the Speed of Dating and Tomorrow's Child.
Two new parents in the imagined retro-future of 1988 must confront the realities of their newborn son – who has been born into another dimension. Will they accept the divide between parent and child? Or find another solution? Tomorrow’s Child is an unforgettable sonic journey that has to be heard to be believed. Check out the trailer.
Can true love be found in 20 minutes? In Faster than the Speed of Dating a lonely, simple man tries his hand at speed dating with comically disastrous results. Rapid fire interactions with increasingly bizarre daters lead to danger, magic, disco dance-offs and...true love? Or will the bell ring too soon? Magic and mayhem abound in this wordless clown comedy like no other. Finding true love is never a speedy affair.
Week Two kicked off with New Play Tuesday, very well attended given the dump of snow (yes, again this year!) - great readings and thoughtful discussions of the following new works:
•Griot!/ Obruni, by Sarah Waisvisz
•Shorelines, by Mishka Lavigne
•Endlings, by Vishesh Abeyratne
•The Assassination of King Hamlet I, by Curtis Gough
You can still catch The Elephant Girls, Burnt, Un-Countried and Indigenous Walks. Check out the reviews online.
