St. Anne's Music & Drama Society presents:
Gilbert & Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance
ST. ANNE'S PARISH HALL, 651 DUFFERIN STREET, TORONTO
The Pirates of Penzance has enjoyed enduring success, ranking alongside The Mikado and HMS Pinafore as one of Gilbert and Sullivan's most performed collaborations. Pirates is unique among Gilbert and Sullivan's 14 collaborations for receiving its official premier in New York, on 31 December 1879.
140 years later, the show still resonates with audiences young and old. Leap years, major general's daughters, complicated apprenticeship contracts, and loyalty to the crown combine with musical highlights like "Poor Wand'ring One" and "I am the very model of a modern major general" for two acts of topsy-turvy fun.
