Rosemary Doyle, fresh from directing the Alumnae Theatre's mammoth production of Queen Marie, stars in Carol Libman's play, A Very Different Place, at the Red Sandcastle Theatre, 922 Queen Street East, near Logan, May 8 - 13th.
Doyle plays Teri, a jazz singer who ran away at a young age to follow her dreams, and is now about to face Marge, the aging mother she hasn't seen in 20 years, and Mike, the two-year old son she left behind. A chance meeting with her now grown son has brought her back 'home'. Mike dreams of a happy reunion and a chance to fulfill his own dreams. Teri dreads the moment she walks back in that door.
Marge is played by musician-actor Jeanette Dagger, and Alexzander McLarry rounds out the cast as Mike, trying desperately to unite his disfunctional family, as the three of them confront the ghosts of their past and an uncertain and hazardous future.
A Very Different Place is directed by Robin Haggerty and opens Tuesday, May 8 at 8 p.m. with performances continuing through Saturday May 12 at 8 p.m. and matinees May 10, 12 and 13 at 2 p.m.
