The multi-talented, multi-disciplinary and multi-prolific Rick Miller brings his show about the generation that shaped an entire century. BOOM originally played in Toronto in January and February 2015. After touring across North America, BOOM returns for a strictly limited one-week engagement August 14 to 19, 2018 at the CAA Theatre (formerly the Panasonic).
From the creative team behind MacHomer and Bigger Than Jesus, BOOM is an explosive solo performance that documents the music, culture and politics of the Baby Boom generation (1945-69).
BOOM takes us through 25 turbulent years by giving voice to over 100 politicians, musicians and artists. This mind-blowing experience showcases Rick Miller’s chameleon-like talents. From Frank Sinatra to Buddy Holly to Elvis Presley to the Beatles, Miller transforms himself, both in look and in voice, as if by magic into some of the 20th century’s most influential figures. He also plays a variety of ordinary people whose lives intertwine in ways that define and explore their generation. Using all forms of media and every theatrical device available, BOOM is a tour de force of storytelling, history and music — a show about one generation for all generations.
Rick Miller is currently working on the next generation — his new show BOOM X will cover 1970 to 1995 and will have its world premiere January 15 to February 9, 2019 at Theatre Calgary.
