Stage Door News
Find us in some new places with some new faces and a new initiative!
We have some staged readings in the works, a return to our popular holiday variety show, a partnership with the Irish Real Life Festival, something new and different, and a mainstage spring show! We haven't finished lining up all the locations, dates and titles, but we're almost there.
Tuesday, November 13, 2018 @ 7pm: The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde, a staged reading. Who can resist this hilarious Wilde classic that pokes fun at the social mores and class prejudices of its time? Location: KW Musical Productions, 14 Shaftsbury Drive, Kitchener
Friday December 14, 2018 @ 7pm and Saturday December 15, 2018 @ 2pm and 7pm:
A Lost & Found Christmas, our popular holiday variety show returns featuring musical guest Michael Kelly Cavan, a gifted KW singer-songwriter. Location: Emmanuel United Church, 22 Bridgeport Road West, Waterloo
Week of March 11-15, 2019: As part of the fourth annual Irish Real Life Festival, we will present a staged reading of an Irish-themed play. We're still working on securing rights and setting the exact date. Location: The Registry Kitchener, 122 Frederick Street, Kitchener
April 6, 2019: Blind Date Musical Theatre. This is an exciting departure for us and promises to be a lot of fun. Here's how it works: Under the direction of Amie DeBrone (2017's Mrs. Dickens and music director), we cast a musical from electronically submitted auditions and swear the cast to secrecy! The cast learns the script and score on their own and shows up an hour before showtime to finally meet and run through the ensemble numbers. Then it's curtain up and off we go! This is a great opportunity for the wealth of talented singer/actors in KW. Come have a blind date with a show! Location: TBA
May 1-4, 2019: One week only! We wrap up with our spring mainstage production! We're still working on securing rights but if all goes well, we'll be taking you to a rural setting where a complicated love story is trying to get some traction. Location: Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts, 36 King St. West, Kitchener
