David Mirvish is delighted to announce the casts of the three plays in the 2018-19 Off-Mirvish season.
Says David: “All the plays in this season’s Off-Mirvish are in co-production with other companies we have worked with before – two local companies, Studio 180 Theatre and The Musical Stage Company, and one national company, The Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre. This is what we’ve always hoped Off-Mirvish would become: a platform for collaborations with various theatre makers.
“We are also very pleased with the opportunity to work with 21 Canadian actors, all of whom have a wealth of experience. Some, such as Ma-Anne Dionisio, Kate Hennig and Louise Pitre, we’ve worked with before in significant ways; others are new to our venues.
“We are also very happy with the growth of the Off-Mirvish audience. Last season the three Off-Mirvish shows were seen by over 40,000 theatregoers and sold more than $2.5M in ticket sales.”

In 1993, in front of the world’s press, the leaders of Israel and Palestine shook hands on the lawn of the White House. Few watching would have guessed that the negotiations leading up to this iconic moment started secretly in a castle in the middle of a forest outside Oslo.
Inspired by the true story of the back-channel talks, unlikely friendships, and quiet heroics that led to the Oslo Peace Accords, OSLO is a deeply personal story set against a complex historical canvas, a story about the individuals behind world history and their all too human ambitions. At this cultural moment when finding common ground is paramount, “OSLO gives us hope” (Daily News).

In the final scene of Ibsen’s 1879 ground-breaking masterwork, Nora Helmer makes the shocking decision to leave her husband and children, and begin a life on her own. This climactic event—when Nora slams the door on everything in her life— instantly propelled world drama into the modern age.
In A DOLL’S HOUSE, PART 2 many years have passed since Nora’s exit. Now, there’s a knock on that same door. Nora has returned. But why? And what will it mean for those she left behind?
Tony-nominated playwright Lucas Hnath has astonished audiences with his brilliant contemporary classic, which continues Nora’s story. A “smart, funny and utterly engrossing play” (The New York Times), A DOLL’S HOUSE, PART 2 “delivers explosive laughs while also posing thoughtful questions about marriage, inequality and human rights” (Hollywood Reporter).
